Databuoy®, a leader in smart IoT sensor technology, was formed in 2006 to develop and field sensor technology, with funding from DARPA, for the Army, and the Marine Corps. Databuoy® operated for almost a decade before making a transition away from military contracts to focus on public safety applications.
Databuoy® manufactures Shotpoint®, the gunshot detection and localization system. The Shotpoint® technology has millions of hours of dependable and nuisance-free operation in schools, government buildings, and city streets. Shot locations are displayed onto maps and floor plans with pinpoint accuracy and can be integrated with imagery and video. The system also detects and reports other acoustic events, such as a loud bang or a ruckus. Databuoy® also makes the Geofob™ mobile panic button. The Geofob™ uses radio technology to accurately locate the user indoors as well as outdoors. When activated, the “panic” message utilizes all the same security network integrations as the Shotpoint® system to get security staff to the user as quickly as possible.
